About
With 14 million people in the UK – around 21,000 per constituency – affected by continence issues, we came together to support patients by driving innovation, ensuring product quality, and safeguarding patient choice.

The Urology Trade Association was set up in 2007 with the primary aim to protect and promote the Drug Tariff as the most effective mechanism to support research, innovation and development within the urology industry. Having successfully secured this objective, the UTA has since expanded its remit to address a broader range of issues affecting the sector. Today, the urology industry represents one of the largest suppliers of health products to NHS patients.
Demand for urological products is expected to rise significantly over the next decade, driven by the UK’s ageing population and the increased prevalence of bladder and bowel conditions associated with older age.
What we do
The UTA meets and engages with several stakeholders and partners from across the Government, Parliament, the NHS and other regulatory bodies to highlight the major challenges and opportunities to be found in the urological sector.
The UTA supports the principle that clinicians should be able to prescribe, and patients to access, the medical device that is most clinically appropriate for their needs and preferences. By also increasing education amongst patients and the public about bladder and bowel issues, and the correct use of urological devices, the UTA helps ensuring that patients receive the best possible care while maintaining efficiency within the NHS system.
Whitehouse Communications acts as Secretariat for, and provides public affairs to, the Urology Trade Association.
